Building long-term solutions
Los Angeles generates over 10 million tons of trash every year, most of it ending up in landfills that release methane and accelerate climate change. During our cleanups, we make efforts to reduce what gets sent to the landfill by sorting e-waste, recyclable materials and reusable goods so the trash gets disposed of properly or upcycled. But beyond the numbers, the impact is felt in our streets: illegal dumping has surged by 450% in the last decade, turning sidewalks into health hazards. Families in under-resourced neighborhoods face the worst of it, living among piles of trash that attract pests, spread disease, and strip away dignity. This is not just waste. It’s inequality made visible, and it demands long-term, sustainable action. Our goal is to support these communities, raise awareness of these inequalities, and create sustainable solutions that result in cleaner streets for everyone.

Meet Our Founder
Juan Naula started a movement by picking up trash around his neighborhood. It spread to surrounding neighborhoods and now dozens of people gather every week to help make LA a more beautiful place.

How do I request a cleanup?
Simply fill out our request form and we will add your location to our schedule.
How do I volunteer?
We meet every Saturday, 9am-11am in a different neighborhood. The location of each minga (meet-up) is announced on our social media channels the Wednesday prior to the minga. Follow one of our channels to stay up to date. You can also sign up to be notified via email on our contact us page.
How do I donate?
Clean LA with Me is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. We accept financial donations and cleaning supplies. Visit our donate page to make a contribution.
What does “minga” mean?
Minga is a traditional practice in Ecuador where community members come together to collaborate on projects that benefit everyone, such as building infrastructure or addressing local issues. It embodies a spirit of cooperation and mutual aid within the community.
